Our Casa
What a beautiful home we have! Our casa was built in 1915 and purchased by Deme's parents, Helen and Theodore, before Deme was born. So, he's lived here his entire life and has worked very hard to make it "our" home.
See photos of our kitchen and banquette as of March 2007.
Deme remodeled the 2nd floor before we married. Phase 1 of our remodel included pulling up carpet and refinishing hardwoods, pulling down paneling and applying fresh paint, pulling dropped ceiling tiles and painting ceilings, installing 23 new vinyl windows and updating the bathroom.
Phase 2 of our remodel began immediately after we married and I moved in to the casa. We did much of the same as Phase 1 to the main living areas of the first floor, saving the all-important kitchen for last.
Phase 3 of our remodel began in August of 2006 and awaits several finishing touches. Due to some structural issues, we literally demolished the back third of the home and built an addition. Our new kitchen is 26-feet long. I have MY sink, garbage disposal and refrigerator drawers in MY island, and Deme has HIS sink, garbage disposal and all other new appliances in the stretch of counter he refers to as HIS "beach."
Upstairs, we built a larger office for me over the kitchen addition and converted a spare bedroom into a large walk-in closet and utility room.
Phase 4 of our remodel will include a redesign of Deme's first floor office, and at some point, we'd like to add a deck in the back yard.
On my old web site, I uploaded photos of each phase of our remodel as we went along, but on this new site, I'm going to begin uploading the newest photos first and add older, historical photos as time allows. Enjoy!
